Pagan Gods—Ancient and Modern—Murder Babies – Jerry C. Brewer

Jerry C. Brewer

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us (Eccl. 1:9-10).

The ancient Israelites were influenced by barbaric idolaters around them and began to worship their gods. One of the gods their neighbors worshiped was Molech, the god of the Ammonites. Israel’s practices met with God’s displeasure which resulted in God’s scathing indictment through Jeremiah:

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction. But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it. And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin (Jer. 32:32-35).

Almost 2,000 years ago before Jeremiah’s time, God had warned Israel against sacrificing to Molech.

And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire unto Molech (Lev. 18:21).

Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people (Lev. 20:2-5).

Who was this god of the Ammonites whom Israel worshiped and who God despised to the extent that He pronounced capital punishment for one who would sacrifice his child to Molech? Rabbi Rashi in his 12th century commentary on Jeremiah 7:31 explained the pagan god and its worship:

the high places of Topheth that is Molech, which was of copper, and they would heat it up from underneath it with its hands spread out and heated. And they would place the child on his hands, and he would be burnt and moan, and the priests would beat drums so that the father should not hear his son’s voice and take pity. It is called Topheth because of the drum Hinnom because of the child’s moaning.

Besides the fact that Israel worshiped an idol, God’s prohibition was rooted in His hatred of the shedding of innocent blood which pollutes the land. God explained that the land could not be cleansed except the blood of the guilty.

Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death. And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it. Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel (Num. 35:31-34).

Of course, the world—especially modern America—has gone beyond those barbaric practices. After all, this is the 21st Century and Americans are more modern. Surely, no one in our country sacrifices babies to a pagan god, do they? Indeed they do! The United States are every bit as pagan and idolatrous as Ammon and Israel. “There is no new thing under the sun.”

The official religion of America is materialistic humanism and one of the many gods America worships is “Choice.” It is considered “Pro-Choice” to sacrifice a baby in the womb today. The modern god, Choice, was officially decreed by the United States Supreme Court on Jan. 22, 1973 in a case called Roe v. Wade. Since that time, more than 60 million babies have sacrificed to the modern Molech—“Choice.” Although babies aren’t burned in the arms of a brass idol any more. But today, those who sacrifice babies on the altar of Choice have a variety of ways, every bit as heinous.

  1. Suction Aspiration (in the first trimester) uses a sharp instrument to cut up the baby and a powerful suction tube sucks up the baby’s body parts and blood.

  2. RU 486 (at 5 to 9 weeks) is a drug taken by the mother for the purpose of starving the child and inducing its death.

  3. Saline Amniocentesis (used after the 16th week) a needle injects a concentrated salt solution into the womb. The baby breathes in and swallows the salt and is poisoned to death within an hour.

  4. Then there is a partial birth abortion in which the baby’s head is delivered, then it is stabbed in the skull to kill it.

This is the reality of murder by abortion and is as barbaric to an innocent baby as burning him in the arms of Molech.

The priests of this religion—so called doctors—don’t beat drums any more. They use drugs to “save” the parents from witnessing the murders of their baby’s. In 2012, Oklahoma’s legislature passed a law that required a woman who considered an abortion, to view a sonogram of the baby in the womb. That law was struck down by the federal judiciary. The Priests of Molech who operate the federal government didn’t want a woman to see her innocent, moving, human baby in her womb!

A “Fetus” or a Baby?

Another component of America’s religion is Science. That component has convinced most people that the life which a woman carries within her body is not a person (a human). Science calls that person in the womb, a fetus. But God never used that term regarding a baby and it cannot be found within the pages of holy writ. Consider the visit of Mary to her cousin, when she learned that she would be the mother of Jesus. Here cousin was Elisabeth, who was pregnant with John the baptist.

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy (Luke 1:39-44).

The word, babe who leaped in Elisabeth’s womb is from the Greek brephos. McClintock & Strong’s Greek Dictionary of the New Testament and is defined as, “An infant, unborn lit. or fig. :—babe (young) child, infant.”

The same word, brephos was used by the angels in their announcement of Jesus’ birth to the shepherds. “And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger…And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger (Luke 2:12, 16).

The Hebrew word used by Job describing an unborn child is olawl, in Job 3:16. McClintock and Strong says that olawl means “A suckling, babe (young) child, infant, little one (Hebrew & Chaldee Dictionary).

This world has changed since we were young. What was once considered sacred—human life—is no more that a blob of tissue to be tossed into the disposal, and it won’t be ere long that some bureaucrat decides that the elderly are as useless as the unborn and should be eliminated.

God has not changed (Mal. 3:6) and His law against shedding innocent blood has not changed. Oh, the arrogance, wickedness and the evil actions in men in high places who disregard God’s law and change the truth of God into a lie. They shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone (Rev. 21:8).
